Photovoltaic or Solar Power Systems
Photovoltaic energy can be utilized thru several  methods.  The most common approach is through a grid tie system where an additional utility power meter is installed in conjunction with solar panels and an inverter.  The panels are connected directly to the structure panel thru the inverter which inverts the solar generated dc voltage to alternating current which can be used by structure appliances or, if not used, stored in our national utility grid.  This method is typically used because no energy is wasted as would be the case with a stand alone system which utilizes site storage battery banks which are not as efficient .  However grid tie systems shut down if utility power is not available and in an emergency outage scenario, grid tie systems serve no purpose.  There are several factors which would influence what type system is best for each individual scenario.  We would be glad to help.
Example above grid tie system which uses all energy produced by the systems array but offers no source of power during a utility outage event.
Examples above are of systems which can provide electricity at anytime, sun shining or not, wind blowing or not, utility available or not, anytime.  These systems will be more expensive and require much more knowledge to implement but in the long run, these offer more versatility and room for growth.
